Accademic Session Begins in Delhi University 23 july

Delhi University (DU) is commencing
its 2012-13 academic session today,
July 23, 2012. The university vice-
chancellor (VC) had notified all DU
colleges to upload the timetable for
the new session on their website as
well as notice boards a week before.
This year, names of the professor’s,
time and room number will be
mentioned against each course in
the time table to prevent students
from any kind of confusion.
VC welcomed all the freshers to the
campus of Delhi University and
suggested to make best use of the
resources offered.
The first day at campus will be
dedicated to introduction to faculty
members and seniors and
acquaintance with the college
campus. Students can also join
various clubs and societies for
extracurricular activities depending
on their interest.
Students will be given attendance for
each session attended at these
societies; hence membership will be
credit-based. Attendance gained to
these societies will be mandatory as
it will be considered during the final
assessment.
DU to take measures to curb
ragging
DU will take strict initiatives to curb
ragging on campus. Two control
rooms will be established in north
and south campuses. Colleges have
been directed to restrict the entry of
any outsider to the campus and
strictly adhere to the ant-ragging
rules prescribed by the Supreme
Court.
Each college will have disciplinary
squads and all eating joints will be
under strict watch. Delhi Police will
also establish pickets in each college
and patrolling will be done in
sensitive areas of the university. All
freshers will be required to sign an
anti-ragging affidavit and FM radio
station of university will also
broadcast talks with university
officials and police against ragging.
