Punjab University Students’ Council elections have ended amid tight security ,polling
remained largely peaceful apart from a shooting incident in Sector 16 in which no one is
reported to be injured.
About 550 policemen were deployed to ensure to free and fair polling,police posts were set
up at every department where polling was conducted.
Police conducted rigorous checking of all students and vehicles of outsiders are not allowed
in the campus.
The principal contestants are Students Union of Panjab University and Panjab University
Students’ Union.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Arun Grover expressed satisfaction at the peaceful conduct
of elections.
